I grew up on a farm
in Iowa where my Dad was a farmer and my mom, Dorothy, owned a clothing
store in a nearby town. It was through my mother’s store that I first
developed an eye for fashion, and it was my mother who instilled in me
a taste for owning a business. She was an inspiration to me that
continues to this day.
I married my high school sweetheart who became an Air Force officer,
and together we have three children. Our military life has taken us to
Missouri, California, Colorado, Texas and now Kansas.
When my children were young, I had various home businesses with arts
and crafts, but it was during our time in Texas that I became
fascinated with the striking jewelry I saw there. As a matter of fact,
as our household goods were being packed for our move to Kansas, I
snuck away to buy my first string of beads, knowing that I wanted a new
adventure when we moved.
When we settled at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where my husband was
attending school, I began to design jewelry at our kitchen table. It
was God who allowed the business to grow beyond what I imagined. In
fact, it was the bible verse below that led me to the name Artistic
Works By Lu.
I’m truly grateful for the wonderful customers I’ve met and whom I now
count as friends. With God’s help, I’ll continue to create jewelry
designs for unique women who are beautifully and wonderfully made!
Blessings,
Lu
